Director of Curriculum - Asst/Assoc Professor

Hawai`i Pacific University, College of Health and Society is seeking candidates for a full-time Director of Curriculum at the rank of associate or full professor for its developing hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This accelerated two-year DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities which allows the faculty member to live remote to the HPU campus. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Honolulu for designated time periods each academic term.

Successful candidates should possess excellent communication skills and strong computer skills to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format. We desire a team-oriented colleague who is willing and able to collaborate and share instructional methods and student-leaing activities. We are eager to identify candidates who show a genuine appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom, and building a student-centered community within the online classroom. 

The successful candidate serving in the role of Director of Curriculum is expected to enhance curricula development and mapping of objectives to accreditation standards within the DPT program. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation reporting. This faculty member should have a scholarly agenda including the scholarship of teaching and leaing or desire to conduct research in this area. Specifically, the Director of Curriculum is responsible for all curricular program planning, implementation, and review processes. The Director of Curriculum must be able to work collaboratively with program faculty to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated curriculum based on foundational documents, best evidence, and contemporary clinical practice.

Additionally, the successful candidate will understand higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapy education; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy. The candidate should be licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Hawaii or the state of residence.

We seek a collegial individual who either has a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., Ed.D, D.Sc., etc.) or a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT), with specialist certification.

In addition to administrative, instructional and scholarly activity, they will participate in commencement, convocations and other university-wide events, and department and collegiate meetings in the week before the start of academic terms.  Faculty presence and engagement is expected during academic terms that faculty have teaching responsibilities.

This is a full-time, 12-month (36-credit) exempt faculty position with up to 18 credits of teaching over the calendar year with instructional terms in spring, summer, and fall.  Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications. Regular travel to the state of Hawaii is required.
